Board Bio - Sharon Biby

Sharon Biby is a Nurse Practitioner in the buckle of the Stroke Belt. She has been with Cone Health’s Stroke Program in Greensboro, North Carolina since 2002. Under her guidance, Moses Cone has achieved and recertified four times as a Joint Commission Primary Stroke Center. The Stroke Center has now expanded to all hospitals in the Cone Health system, with Moses Cone obtaining Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification in 2017. As part of that growth, she transitioned to the Advanced-Practice Stroke Nurse role. 

Sharon is a certified Acute Neurovascular Advanced Practitioner and an Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner. She is faculty for NET SMART AP, an academic stroke fellowship program for advanced practice nursing and physician assistants and is President of the Association of Neurvascular Clinicians. Sharon is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the nursing honor society. She has presented at the local, national and international levels as well as functioned as the Study Coordinator for various stroke research studies. She has special interest in identifying atrial fibrillation in her stroke patients. 

Stroke is more than a profession for Sharon. Her grandfather died of a stroke when she was just 4. Her grandmother died after a large stroke many years later. And, her father experienced stroke at the age of 57. She considers stroke a passion and a calling.
