Board Bio - Dana Beenstock

I am currently a Nurse Practitioner in Neurology, now specializing in Multiple Sclerosis.  Prior to this position I was the NP in Stroke and Manager of Neurosciences at an academic institution in NJ.  I have had several professional accomplishments.  I developed the stroke program in the institution in which I worked, starting with primary stroke certification within 1 year of starting the program and then developed the comprehensive stroke program within 2 years thereafter.  The comprehensive stroke program was also DNV certified prior to me leaving the position.  In addition, I am a founding board member of the ANVC, and was treasurer for 5 years and continue to be a board member.  One major accomplishment was completing the Advanced Practice Neurovascular education program at NetSmart and obtaining my ANVP-BC. In 2018-2019 I was named the NJ Biz Nurse of the Year. My values reflect in my practice because I am caring and dedicated to my profession and patients.  I will always go the extra mile for the patient. Outside of work I love to cook.  I always said that if I didn’t go into this profession I would probably have been a chef.  It allows me to use my scientific brain and my creative brain.  I am a very proud parent, wife and grandparent.  I recently moved to the Jersey Shore and love living at the beach.  Although I am practicing in a different area of Neurology, the Neurovascular system is still in my blood.  I worked hard to become an expert in the field and will continue to keep up with the changes and growth that is made.  Don’t think that when I’m in the room with the MS patient I’m not teaching stroke prevention as well!
