“I have been a nurse for 28 years and most of this time has involved the care of acute stroke patients. My professional development plan always included a nursing certification. However, I wanted the certification to be meaningful and focus on my daily work activities as a Stroke Program Director and Coordinator. Once I discovered the newly accredited Advanced Stroke Coordinator Rapid Review and Certification exam, I was excited because this is what I do every day; this certification was for me. After traveling to Atlanta for the first-ever review and exam, I was not disappointed. The exam review was rapid but detailed and taught by nationally-recognized instructors who were very encouraging. Most importantly, it was extremely empowering and motivating to be in the presence of 60 Stroke Program Coordinators in one room! Like many of my colleagues, I passed the exam and I am now a proud advanced stroke coordinator – board certified, thanks to the ANVC!”
