Mrs. Metzger-Cihelka has been a nurse practitioner for nearly 15 years, specializing in Stroke Neurology. She joined ANVC and obtained her ANVP certification in 2019. With a diverse background in Emergency Care and Public Health, she has a unique combination of skills and knowledge. After working closely with the American Heart/Stroke Association for many years, she incorporated the West Central Florida Acute Stroke Council as a non-profit organization, which helped legislate the Florida Stroke Act in 2005. She was also the only ARNP member of the Florida Department of Health Stroke Systems Team, which spearheaded goals on stroke care as well as started the FL Stroke Registry with Dr. R. Sacco in 2012 until moving to North Carolina in 2014.
She now works closely with Mission Health System in Asheville, NC to create standards of care and stroke guidelines throughout the western NC region. She has also been a part of the Stroke Belt Consortium & Brain Attack Coalition since 2000 with Dr. M. Alberts. She is part of the core stroke team at Mission Hospital, which is a certified Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center and is an inpatient neurohospitalist and neuro ICU provider. She is active on the Advanced Provider Counsel at Mission Health and is clinical faculty for Duke University where she precepts in the Acute Care DNP program. Currently she is perusing her PhD in health science at the University of Tennessee.
